Support Steve Perry's Road to Recovery

Hi friends and family of Steve and Lisa Perry

My name is Ulli and I've been friends with Lisa for 34 years and I've known Steve since he started dating Lisa. In fact, I even wrote them a song for their wedding!

As you may know by now, early Friday morning, Steve collapsed at work and was rushed to Lahey Emergency Department after suffering from cardiac arrest. I was at the ER with Lisa and every doctor and nurse we met told us if it weren't for the heroic efforts of his co-workers, he would not be here today.

His heart was shocked 5 times and he has several broken ribs and burns on his chest from the paddles. He had some minor injuries sustained when he fell but what they found when they did the angioplasty was one of his arteries was 90% blocked!

There was certainly some divine intervention on Friday that made a really horrible situation, the best possible scenario it could be. Steve had driven his daughter to school that morning, and he wasn't even supposed to be working that day. Had he had the attack while driving it would have been a lot worse and had he had it home....well....we don't even want to think about it.

The good news is Steve continues to show improvement every day. In true Hulk fashion he broke through his restraints and pulled out his breathing tube Saturday morning. But now, it's been removed officially, he's able to sit up, talk and is on a liquid diet for now. He is continuing to have some short term memory loss which is expected to improve as he heals.

It's a long and challenging road ahead of this family and they are all committed to a long and healthy life for Steve and all of them once he's back home. He has not yet been released from the hospital but they have downgraded his needs so that is promising. He'll have about a week in cardiac rehab once he is released.

Everyone has been reaching out to the family asking how they can help. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming to them and Lisa said if there is one amazing thing to come out of this horrible situation it's that everyone has been so kind to them.

At this time we are collecting donations to help cover the medical bills that will be coming, help to cover gas and food while they try to spend as much time together as a family with Steve at the hospital and rehab and to cover the lost wages from missed work for both Lisa and Steve.

The family understands times are tight for everyone right now and please do not feel any obligation. They are so grateful for your thoughts and prayers but since so many have asked how they can help, with their permission, I wanted to put this gofundme together. Whatever you can give will help and sharing the gofundme link helps too.

Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts for your generosity, kindness, and a very special Thank You to Steve's coworkers who brought his car back to his house on Monday, those who called for help and those that performed the life saving CPR. The family, and all of us who love Steve, Lisa, Maddy and Tyler are forever in your debt.
