Dimes for Dougie – Honoring a Beloved Friend
If you’ve spent time at the William Pitts Dog Park in Nashville, you’ve likely met Steve and his two beautiful Golden Retrievers, Linda and Dougie. Steve adopted both after their previous owners could no longer care for them, and together they became part of the heart and soul of our dog park family.
Dougie, the elder Golden, was known for his warm, gentle spirit and for making every person—and every dog—feel like a best friend. Just two weeks ago, he began to limp. The diagnosis came quickly: Blastomycosis, a serious fungal infection. After multiple vet visits and with plans for a two-week hospital stay to help him fight, Dougie passed peacefully in his sleep this past Sunday afternoon, with his dear Linda by his side.
Losing a beloved dog is heartbreaking enough. On top of that loss, Steve is now facing $3,500 in veterinary bills from Dougie’s final two weeks. That’s where Dimes for Dougie comes in—our way of coming together as friends, neighbors, and fellow dog lovers to honor Dougie’s memory and help Steve through this difficult time.
Every dime counts. If we’re fortunate enough to surpass the goal, we’d love to also cover Linda’s upcoming annual vet visit—keeping her healthy and happy for years to come.
Dougie’s light, love, and smile touched so many of us. Let’s fill this “jar” with Dimes for Dougie, show Steve and Linda how much they mean to us, and ensure Dougie’s memory lives on in the community he loved.
Any amount helps—please give if you can, and share this page with others who knew and loved Dougie.
We love you, Steve and Linda. ❤️
