Support Steve Brightwells Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On Thursday, January 30 our family got the call that our dad would receive his life-saving double lung transplant at Johns Hopkins University. After a 9 hour surgery, it was a success! He is currently recovering in the hospital, and will need to remain there for the next few weeks as he heals. Afterward, his recovery journey will include regular follow-up appointments at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, potentially for the next several months to a year.
While we are incredibly grateful for the care and progress so far, this long road to recovery will bring significant financial challenges. Between hospital bills, transportation costs for regular visits, and the expenses for meals and lodging for the caretakers staying with him, the financial strain is heavy. Additionally, some of our family members are unable to work as they care for Steve during this critical time.
We are reaching out to our community for support. Your donations will help cover:
Medical bills not covered by insurance
Transportation costs for frequent trips to Baltimore
Meal and lodging costs for the family at the hospital
General expenses during this extended recovery period
Once Steve is discharged, we will also set up a Meal Train for those who would like to help provide meals during the first few weeks at home.
We are so grateful for any support—whether it’s a donation, a kind word, prayers, or sharing this campaign with others. Every little bit helps as we navigate this journey together.
Thank you for your generosity, love, and support during this challenging time.
With gratitude,
Ashley and the Brightwell Family
