Help Lisa & Steve Rebuild Their Home & Fight Cancer

I’m reaching out on behalf of my parents, Steve and Lisa, who have faced some overwhelming challenges recently. It’s been a tough year, and I’m hoping to gather support to help them through this difficult time.

Cancer Diagnosis:

In October 2023, my dad, Steve, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery in November, and we were hopeful that the cancer had been fully removed. However, in February 2024, we received the news that the cancer was still present. My dad began undergoing radiation treatment in May and is on medication to manage the cancer.

Catastrophic Home Damage:

As if dealing with cancer wasn’t enough, on July 16, 2024 - just two days before the last day of dad's radiation treatments, the foundation wall of my parents’ basement collapsed after heavy rain in the area. The damage was catastrophic, leaving their home unlivable and structurally unsound. Their insurance company has denied coverage for the repairs, citing flooding and erosion as the cause. The initial estimates for the repairs are over $200,000, an amount that is simply beyond their reach.

Why I’m Asking for Help:

The weight of the cost to repair is truly unimaginable and overwhelming. Many people know that my dad hasn’t been able to work for over 25 years due to multiple back surgeries, so my parents have been managing on a single income. Retirement for my mom has become an unknown.

Mom and dad have never wanted to ask for help and are always looking for how they can help others, but this time is different. The cost to repair the home they built is beyond their means and has left them in a complete state of unknown. The weight of these challenges is immense, and they have reached a point where help is needed.
