Support Steve and His Family Through Their Fight Against MND

One of our close friends, Steve Edge, has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a life-changing and progressive condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This devastating news has deeply affected Steve, his family, and all of us who know and love them.

A Family at the Heart of Berkswich Football Club

Steve and his family have been the heart and soul of Berkswich Football Club for years. His daughter Belle has selflessly dedicated countless hours volunteering at our Saturday Soccer Centre, helping many of our current players take their first steps in football.

Steve has coached his son Stan and his teammates for around four years, bringing lots of fun and memorable moments along the way. Under Steve’s guidance, the team has enjoyed some remarkable seasons in the JPL and an incredible undefeated (except for one game!) season in the Mid Staffs League, which culminated in a much-deserved cup win for Stan and his teammates. Steve’s unwavering dedication to Berkswich, fitting in training sessions, matches, and tournaments around a busy job, has been a true credit to the boys’ football journey and development.

Stan continues to play for the club scoring many goals, proudly wearing the mighty orange, while Nicci, Steve’s wife, has been the ultimate supporter—cheering not only for her own family but for every child on the pitch. The Edge family embodies everything Berkswich stands for: dedication, teamwork, and community spirit.

Now, it’s our turn to give back to this incredible family and show them just how much they mean to all of us.

Despite his diagnosis, Steve continues to approach life with courage and determination, inspiring everyone around him. However, the financial challenges that come with managing MND are significant. Together, we can help ease this burden and ensure Steve and his family have the support they need.
