Emma is asking for help to get Stetson back to the Native Horsemanship Youth Program. NHYP is run by Lynn Ferguson and her volunteers. They currently have several older horses which makes costs even higher. They are asking for assistance with Stetsons feed in order to bring him back where he is comfortable.
The program is primarily for tribal youth and those with special needs. No one is ever asked to pay and Lynn is the most giving person I have ever met. Emma has been visiting for about 9 years. Lynn is great with everyone of the kids always making them feel like they are special.
Stetson was rescued and only at the program for a few months when it was determined he was not great with beginners and she hated to see him go and is so excited about the possibility of getting him back. They have really bonded on our weekly stall cleaning visits. He is great with ground work and he loves attention and would appreciate a quiet place to enjoy his senior years.
Here is a little more info about Stetson from Lynn.
Stetson is a sweet wonderful horse who was rescued by a dear friend. He was very happy with her. I took him when they were no longer able to provide for him. We determined pretty quickly that he wasn't the best fit for some of our beginner riders but he is good consistently to all of the kids on the ground grooming and caring for him but if we could not use him for the program we could not afford to keep him on with several of our horses entering retirement. We have made attempts at finding him two other good homes but he has been very depressed and distressed. Both were great homes but we think he misses the constant companionship of the kids and the other horses. We would love to bring him back. We can manage most of his costs if we can just get his feed covered. It is about $200 a month.
Please help share our requests and bring Stetson back to where he is comfortable. So many people love their horses and just simply can't keep up with the increase in feed and other costs. There are so many people trying to help Stetson. We have the space for him and would love to keep him on the ranch.
