Help Stephen Rebuild After Divorce and Financial Loss

Hi, my name is Stephen Malfavon. After 11 years of relationship, I recently went through a difficult divorce and am now trying to rebuild my life from the ground up—emotionally, physically, and financially.

When I moved to Chicago, I was in love and full of hope. I trusted my partner completely, including when it came to our finances. Unfortunately, I’ve since learned that many of the major financial decisions were made without proper planning or sustainability in mind. My partner did not budget appropriately and often relied on my credit cards to fund expenses without truly considering the consequences.

Looking back, I realize I followed along blindly, believing we were building something solid together. But in truth, I was left with the financial aftermath. After our separation, I was hit with the reality: I’m carrying significant debt that I didn’t fully understand was accumulating in my name.

I’m now on a structured plan to tackle this debt, taking responsibility and working hard to recover. However, this has left me unable to furnish my apartment or maintain my wellness goals, including a six-month campaign I started to focus on weight loss and reclaiming my physical well-being.

This fundraiser is my way of asking for a bit of help during this rebuilding phase. I’m seeking funds to cover essential furniture and home items that will help me live with dignity, stay organized, and stay committed to my health and healing.

In the mean time, I am committed to going to the gym 4x a week, community building a Magic the Gathering event monthly, and moderation of a local discord for queer MTG players.
