Stephen Shipman was diagnosed with astrocytoma brain cancer in October 2018. Since then, he has had four brain surgeries—including a partial lobectomy—and undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He has fought long and hard, defying statistics and odds to live six years with this brain tumor.
More recently, Stephen was hospitalized for severe pain and fluid on his brain. Doctors decided to remove the skull plate and found a massive infection on his brain. Stephen has been in Omaha for over a week now (as of 7-17-24) battling complications from the surgery and infection. He has been fitted with a helmet to protect his brain since he will be without any kind of skull plate for quite some time. He will continue to need strong antibiotics to fight this infection, even when he is dismissed to go home.
Stephen is struggling, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. Extreme pain, limited mobility, and setbacks are discouraging to him. Help us lift his spirits and encourage him to keep going, keep fighting! His journey has been amazing thus far, every day a miracle, but his battle is not over yet!
