On March 29th, 2026, retired FDNY firefighter, loving husband, father, and grandfather Stephen Schreck suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury from falling down a flight of stairs while at home. He has been diagnosed with Central Cord Syndrome, which is a combination of neurological symptoms including the majority loss of motor functions. He is partially paralyzed from the shoulders down due to the injuries sustained from the fall. There will be extensive needs and care required long after his release from the hospital.

Any and all donations will be used to help pay for extensive and unexpected medical expenses while he fights to make as close to a full recovery as possible. Stephen served the FDNY with honor, being cited for heroism in 1996 while catching multiple fire victims as they jumped from a rear second-floor window. In 2000, he was promoted to Fire Marshal and assigned to the Brooklyn base. On September 11th, 2001, he responded from home while off duty, and in the months following, he worked in the morgue with commitment while dedicated to identifying fallen firefighters. He retired in 2004 and has since been living his life enjoying his time with family and friends. These donations will assist Steve and his family navigate through these difficult times. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Love,
The Schreck Family
