Hi Friends! We recently moved back from Ecuador and our "nanny" there, Stephany Argüello, was excellent. She is good with kids and a genuinely good person. We had invited her to come stay with us in Iowa for 6-12 months. While here, she would help our kids retain their Spanish, learn about the USA, and perform with us in the Nauvoo Pageant (nauvoopageant.org).
That last item is a really unique opportunity, since only one out of five families that apply is accepted, and she applied as part of our family several months ago. All of this would be an amazing, faith-building experience for her, and would also be a wonderful blessing for our kids.
Unfortunately, we found out two weeks ago that her visa was denied. All of us were heartbroken.
However, we have learned that there is another way she could come - as an au pair. Approval would be almost guaranteed, but the catch is that we would have to go through an au pair agency, and they charge a big upfront fee. Between the upfront agency fees and the plane ticket, we would need $9,090 to get her here. (That's $8,740 to Au Pair International and $350 for the flight.)
Lately, our family businesses have not gone as planned, so we are not in a position to pay those upfront costs. We would need to start the au pair process soon so she could be here in time for the Nauvoo Pageant.
Would you please help? Even if it's just $10 or $20, we (and Stephany) will be forever grateful!
Thank you!
Mark and Sarah Tanner (and our six kids)
