Hi everyone, my name is Maggie, and I've started this GoFundMe to raise funds for my friend, Stephanie Wireman, who recently suffered a brain stem stroke at the young age of 42.
On Easter Sunday 4/5/26, Stephanie developed a terrible headache, she also mentioned that she was having trouble holding her phone in her hand. She ended up going to bed that night and woke up the next morning to get ready for work. She went outside to start her car, and fell coming back inside. Feeling off, Stephanie decided to stay home that day. She got her two young daughters, Harper and Hudson, off to school, then went to lay down for a nap. Around 10 am she went to the local emergency room, as she was not able to walk very well and still had a horrible headache. She was admitted to the hospital that day. At this point her speech was not understandable and her right side was very weak. The MRI showed that she had had a brain stem stroke on the left side of her brain, which affected the right side of her body. She was seen by PT and OT who advised she could not go home and needed inpatient rehab. On 4/11/26 she was transferred to an inpatient facility to complete PT, OT, and ST.
Stephanie has since been released from the inpatient portion of her rehabilitation, miraculously being able to walk again, but will need to continue with outpatient rehab that specializes in neuro for at least another 6-8 weeks. During this time, Stephanie is unable to work, and she does not have short-term disability coverage. Being a single mom is hard enough as it is, and now she's got this obstacle to overcome. She will need to do therapy at least three times a week and the cost is simply outrageous. Stephanie's amazing parents have taken on the financial strain of taking care of Stephanie and their wonderful granddaughters. I'm asking for donations to cover Stephanie's medical expenses as well as everyday expenses that go with raising two young children. Stephanie has a long road to recovery and we are so thankful she is still with us.
