My daughter, Stephanie Lee, is facing one of the toughest battles of her life. After bravely overcoming cervical cancer once before, we recently learned that the cancer has returned. This time, it has formed a large tumor in her abdomen and is pressing on the tube to her left kidney, causing her kidney to enlarge. Doctors had to insert a tube to help her kidney function, and she now has to carry a urine bag to prevent further damage.

Stephanie’s oncologist explained that, because this cancer is a recurrence, it is considered stage 2, but if it were a new diagnosis, it would be stage 4. The cancer has spread, and she will need whole-body chemotherapy to stop it from reaching her lymph nodes and spreading further. The treatment will be intense—six-hour chemo sessions every three weeks for six months. Stephanie has always worked hard and overcome so much, including past struggles with addiction, but now she must stop working to protect her immune system during treatment. Even a simple germ could be life-threatening for her right now.
