Support Stephanie's Emergency Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stephanie Shaines.
I underwent a life-saving emergency ileostomy surgery with complications less than 3 weeks ago. After a second ED visit and a 7-hour wait, it was discovered that I had an intestinal blockage and a perforated leaking large intestine, I had aspirated causing pneumonia adding more risk to the success of my surgery. I was in a coma for 3 days, and my large intestine, gall bladder and appendix were removed.
I had no pre-existing diagnosis or condition that would indicate that I would be a candidate for this at all. I have previously lived with several food intolerances that I managed successfully up until this incident.
I've been told repeatedly by my surgeons and caregivers that I am lucky to be alive.
I live on a small horse farm with my husband, our 3 horses, dog and cat. My lifestyle has always been extremely active. I am a local realtor in NH & ME, Trustee of the Abraham Burtman Charitable Trust and owner of @Equilignbarre and @BlueSkyFarmVintage.
My goal is to help cover my living expenses over the next few months so that I can return to my former life. Through my barre business, I hope to support and encourage others by example to heal and strengthen mind, body and soul.
As a committed realtor to my clients, I still found myself texting with them while I was in the hospital to provide them with the service they expect from me.
I am a wife, mother, sister and daughter with a loving family that I cherish. It is with great humility that I created this fundraiser. I'm accustomed to being on the giving end.
My goal is to pay this forward. I will be submitting my story for publication and intend to raise awareness and educate those struggling with digestive and food disorders including colon cancer patients.
Your support is key to my survival and I appreciate every donation to support my life while I recover.
