Hello, hello, I hope everyone is doing well. My name is Stephanie. I'm a single mother in Dayton, OH. I have one son; he is 15 with severe disabilities. He has gone through some extreme challenges, as have I, but together, we have both persevered. This is a very difficult situation I'm in. I spend hours every week volunteering for my community, but now I need your support. I went back to college a few years ago and started a dream I honestly didn't think I could do, a Bachelor's of Science degree. Where I come from, people like me do not get degrees and definitely not Bachelor's. I have not only gotten to the end of my degree, I have done it with high honors the entire time! I am now ONLY 3 MONTHS from achieving something that will completely change the future for my son and me But I was told by my school that unfortunately, although they commend my hard work, all of my student loans/grants maxed out earlier than expected. And now I have to pay 100% out of pocket, which is $1,550 each month until graduation. Most households require two incomes to sustain these days, so as a single mother of a challenged child, there's just no way I can afford it.
I have applied for every scholarship and grant imaginable, with no luck. I spoke to my school, and they said if I can just come up with the first payment of $1,550, they will let me pay only half of that every month for the following five months. And I'll still get to graduate and get my degree on time (in 3 months).
$775/month is what it will be, and an extra expense that high for almost six months is going to be very hard, yes, but it's doable. I have dedicated my entire life to this degree! The sacrifices I have made, all of the work, and also all of the cookouts and fun I have given up for this degree is beyond dedication. I was never good at school. I graduated high school with the lowest possible GPA one could have to pass. So it means the world to me, and my son, that his mama is an honor student
*** I NEED Y'ALLS HELP *** lol. If enough people can chip in $20 here, $40 there, it all adds up. If this goal is completed, this gal can get her degree and continue helping our community even more.
