Steph Fischer is a single mom of two—Leah and Luca—who has always put her family and community first. As a bus driver at the Naples school, she works tirelessly to provide for her children, even taking on two extra jobs over the summer to make ends meet. Our families have grown close over the past five years, and I’ve seen firsthand how dedicated and hardworking Steph is, both as a parent and a friend.

This past year has been especially tough for Steph. She had to take two months off work for abdominal surgery, and just as she was getting back on her feet, she faced another setback. Due to a clerical error, her driver’s license was suspended, even though she had proof of insurance and did everything right. Despite her constant calls, emails, and in-person visits to the DMV and court office, the issue dragged on for two more months. During this time, Steph lost four paychecks and was left without any income, all while trying to keep her kids fed and a roof over their heads. She sold toys and clothes just to pay rent and utilities, and her credit took a hit from missed payments. To make matters worse, she totaled her vehicle after hitting a deer, leaving her with unreliable transportation and even more stress.

Now, Steph is facing mounting bills, rent, and the challenge of finding a reliable vehicle so she can keep supporting her children. Many of you may know Steph through your children’s friendships with Leah or Luca. I’m asking our community to come together and help Steph during this difficult time.
