On the 8th of April, Stepan Shevchuk tragically lost his life in a construction accident in South Philadelphia. This sudden loss has devastated his family and friends. Our community as a whole feels the loss of this deeply kind and generous man, who brought joy to so many people.

Stepan came to the US 11 years ago from Ukraine seeking a better life. He worked hard building a future for his family and his partner, Nastassia, whom he met in school soon after he arrived. The goal of this campaign is to help our friend and colleague Nastassia Sharanhovich, Stepan’s partner of 9 years.

Right now, Nastassia needs all our love and support to get through this tragic time. A talented artist, Nastassia has been part of our team for two years — and in that time, she has generously shared her creativity with young children in Philadelphia. Both Nastassia and Stepan were part of A Book a Day’s work, giving back to the community that welcomed them. Please help us return the kindness and generosity they have shared.
