Support Stefanie's Medical Journey

My name is Erika Hamlet, and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin Stefanie.

Stefanie has had a long road of medical complications as she has had diabetes since she was a child, has had multiple strokes, dialysis multiple times a week and is battling congestive heart failure.

Then on May 28 of this year, Stefanie was admitted into the hospital for an infection in her foot and for what we thought would be surgery to clear infected tissue and receive antibiotics but turned into the amputation of her foot. During her 70+ day stay at the hospital, she underwent multiple surgeries and some really scary moments with her heart before being transferred to Mary Free Bed on July 16 to start her rehabilitation and strengthening process.

She will undergo a final surgery to complete the amputation process, another hospitalization and about three months later will begin the process of being fitted for a prosthetic.

Stefanie has an amazing support system around her and her husband Joe is doing all that he can to support Stefanie and prepare for the transition home. They have found out though that there are multiple medical devices and even a hospital stay that will not be covered by the insurance.

The funds we are seeking to raise now are the cost of medical equipment and transportation cost that will not be covered by the insurance. Please consider donating to Stefanie and Joe to help them through this challenging and unpredictable season they are in.
