Last week, Stefanie Gollmer survived the tragic Volare boating accident on the San Francisco Bay. During a family memorial gathering, the vessel suddenly capsized. Stefanie escaped through a submerged window and fought her way to the surface before waiting in the 64-degree bay awaiting rescue by a Good Samaritan.

Tragically, her beloved mother, Carol Boisa, did not escape and remains missing.

Carol was an incredibly selfless person, always putting others before herself. Both Carol and Stefanie dedicated many years to caring for others. Carol, in her retirement years, and Stefanie, living out her mother’s dream as a compassionate nurse in Palo Alto. Now, Stefanie needs the support of her community.

As Stefanie begins a long healing process, she is also facing the difficult responsibilities that come with caring for her mother’s affairs during an incredibly painful time.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help. With Stefanie’s permission and sincere gratitude, this fundraiser has been organized by her sister-in-law, Valerie Katircioglu, her stepbrother, John Katircioglu, and her dear friend, Debbie Bone.

Donations will help ease the financial burden by helping cover:

* Probate and estate legal expenses.

* Costs related to caring for Carol’s home, belongings, and pets, including related travel expenses.

* Memorial and celebration-of-life expenses when the time comes.

* Other unforeseen expenses that arise in the weeks and months ahead.

Most importantly, this support will allow Stefanie to focus on healing rather than unexpected financial pressures.

If funds remain after these needs have been met, the remaining balance will be donated to one or more nonprofit organizations supporting cat rescue and boating safety education in Carol’s memory. The specific organizations will be selected by Stefanie and her family.
