Starr Clavier, a mother of two, and Nana to a precious 4-year-old grandson, was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer in September 2023.
She was treated with chemo and radiation, then had an esophagectomy (a surgery that removes your esophagus and rebuilds a new one with your stomach) in February 2024.
She started immunotherapy in April 2024 and found a lump in the neck area in July 2024, which tested positive for esophageal cancer. She did more chemo and radiation in November 2024, which cleared the cancer in the neck area. She did scans in February 2025, and more spots were found, so she was restaged to stage 4 esophageal cancer.
She started on chemo in April 2025 and rescanned in June 2025, and the spots continued to spread, so the chemo regimen had to be changed.
She will do more scans at the end of August to see if the regimen is working. She will meet with a board of doctors at MD Anderson to discuss trials she could be a part of instead of the treatment she is currently on. She would have to take an unpaid leave from work and find a place to stay in Houston to be a part of this trial. She has been missing a lot of work due to treatments, sickness from treatment, traveling to and from MD Anderson, and appointments. She has exhausted her paid leave due to having to use it when she had surgery. Medical expenses, expenses to travel and stay in Houston, and daily expenses are an extreme burden right now, and any help would lighten the burden.
Matthew 18:20 – “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
Matthew 17:20 – “For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Luke 1:37 – “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
