We at Starbucks Garden of the Gods are going on strike! While our union is doing as much as they can to support us we may still may still need financial support to fully support our workers in the fight for our rights. What are we striking for? First we are striking for an increase in take home pay. Right now baristas are not making enough to make our monthly expenses and our CEO, Brian Niccol has made 6,666x the amount that the average barista makes this year alone. Second we want proper staffing on the floor. To many times have we been short staffed because of the low labor hours that are given to stores so we want to make the company staff us appropriately. Third, Better health coverage. Over the years Starbucks has slowly and quietly stripped our health coverage, making it so we have more out of pocket costs for even routine check ups. We want to restore that coverage to be as good, if not better than it once was. Fourth, we want guaranteed hours. It is to often that we are scheduled outside of our availability, or scheduled under/over the hours we want in a week. We want more say in how we are scheduled so that we may have consistency in our work life. Fifth and final, we want to pressure Starbucks to settle all of the lawsuits between our union and the company, and cease all illegal union-busting behavior. Starbucks has more labor rights violations than any other company and we deserve to work for a company that actually cares about its workers, just like the founders intended. We will win our contract, and with your help it would be much easier. No contract? NO COFFEE!
