To Our Wonderful Customers,
At Star's cafe', we are a multigenerational, family run business, proudly serving the West Side of Ann Arbor for the past 18 years. The Covid-19 pandemic is not only affecting the health and life of all our families, but has already been devastating for small family run businesses across the entire country. Ours is no exception.
The necessary closure of our dining room has resulted in a current decrease of about 60% in our sales. We are so grateful for all of our loyal customers who are still making a point of ordering our take out, and we are working as hard as possible and making every possible sacrifice in order to keep our staff employed and supported during this worldwide crisis. Despite our best efforts, 40% of normal sales simply may not be enough to to keep us in business longterm.
I grew up in Star's Cafe', as have many of your children. I used to be the goofy little boy who could barely see over the counter, peeking through the case of baklava. My father taught me to learn our customer's names, and treat them like the important neighbors and friends that they truly are.
We know that there are many restaurants in Ann Arbor, but every year there are fewer like ours, the kind of family owned, delicious but affordable best kept secret places that make this town special.
It is not comfortable for us to have to ask, but we greatly appreciate any contribution you can afford to make, whether that means chipping in a few dollars, or picking up some of our amazing take-out, delivery, or curbside pickup.
For everyone who has moved to support our family’s eatery in the last few weeks, we are beyond grateful for the empathy, loyalty, and gratitude this gem of a community has shown us.
