I met the most wonderful couple while in grad school and I want to help their growing family with financial support during a complex medical situation with their pregnancy. We all graduated together as marriage and family therapists and are all working hard to finish up our clinical licensure requirements. They are navigating this while raising two young boys (who are precious by the way). This is their story:
Staci and Donald have worked really hard to complete their family. Last year they delivered a late term miscarriage, resulting in thousands of dollars of medical debt. By some miracle, they got pregnant again quickly! Filled with joy (but also anxiety), they have been trying to financially recover from that while also preparing for maternity leave, more medical expenses, and the additional expenses that come with having a baby - all while praying the baby makes it this time.
Then at 24 weeks, they discovered a rare placental complication called vasa previa with a bi-lobed placenta and velamentous cord insertion. In plain terms, there are two placentas (one on each side of the cervix) with several exposed blood vessels between them. In other words- going into labor could put baby and mommy’s life at risk. This has resulted in many more doctor appointments as well as a plan for Staci to be in the hospital from week 32 until week 35 (Nov 13-Dec 4). Hopefully, everything will go smoothly, and baby will be born on Dec 4 via c-section.
With an expensive hospital stay coming up, an extended maternity leave/ loss of income, and past medical expenses haunting them, they need any help they can get! The $5,000 covers essential bills while Staci is out of work.
Please help me with a small miracle to help support them during this time!
