***Help This Incredible Family Rebuild Stability ***
A message from Christy, longtime friend and advocate. As someone who’s shared a home and many years of friendship with Stacey, I’ve been given permission to share what’s happening in her family's world right now. They’re the kind of people who uplift others—quietly, humbly, and wholeheartedly. But today, they need us.
Hello, Family and Friends,
Imagine opening your fridge after days without power—everything spoiled. Imagine rushing to care for a dying parent while wondering how you’ll pay the next bill. This is what Stacey and Jay are living through.
- The Storm That Changed Everything
In July, a brutal storm hit Missouri, knocking out power for days. The heat was unbearable—forcing them to stay in a hotel for their safety. Their fridge and freezer were wiped out, and restocking food on a tight budget has hit them hard.
At the same time, Jay’s mother was hospitalized and placed in hospice. She lost her job due to her health, and Stacey stepped in as her full-time caregiver. They’re now surviving on Jay’s income alone. Their expenses have exploded—especially with oxygen and medical equipment running non-stop, driving up privately owned utility bills with little oversight.
- A Critical Need for Transportation
Their car has officially broken down. Right now, they’re relying on borrowed vehicles and help from others—but it’s not sustainable. Jay needs a reliable car to get to work, buy groceries, and get the kids to vital appointments. Without it, even the simplest tasks are a struggle.
- SSDI Complexities
One of their children receives SSDI. If you’ve dealt with this system, you know how difficult it is to build stability. Every dollar is scrutinized. Saving is nearly impossible. They’re working toward opening a (ST)ABLE account to legally protect benefits while freeing up funds to help the entire family—but that solution takes time- more on that soon.
- A Mental Load Beyond Words
Stacey and Jay are juggling caregiving, financial chaos, disability regulations, and parenting—while managing heartbreak. Their mental load? Astronomical.
They’ve tried to manage this privately. They hesitated to ask for help. But the weight of it all has become too much. After talking with them and reviewing their needs, I’ve calculated that $8,000 would provide vital relief. This would cover living expenses, medical necessities, and help them get back on their feet.
- How You Can Lift Them
• Donate if you’re able—even $5 brings hope. GoFundMe donations count as gifts and won’t affect benefits.
• Share this far and wide—your reach might be their miracle.
• Send prayers, energy, support—whatever your beliefs, love travels.
They live simply, give generously, and ask little. Let’s show them what love in action looks like. Every contribution, every share, every gesture—you're helping rebuild safety, dignity, and peace of mind.
With gratitude,
Christy
