St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church was established in 1932, serving predominantly African American Catholics in the Gulfport area of Mississippi and staffed by the Josephites. The Church building was built through donations from the Bishop, parishioners, local businesses and the good people of the community. The Church building has undergone several renovations in the past but none could address the urgent need that the building cries out for. The Church building lacks basic amenities like; restrooms within the Church, larger doors, foyer, a working ramp for our seniors, proper and functional sanctuary, vesting room for priest, altar servers room, efficient cooling system and an effective audio system. I believe strongly this renovation will address these dire needs and improve our liturgical celebrations. It will also keep our building up to code and provide our parishioners and friends a conducive atmosphere for worship. This project will cost approximately $1.8 million to be completed. We are a parish of about 85 families with a huge presence of our youth. We are hopeful for the future although the project at hand is challenging for us. We are requesting of your financial support to make our dream a reality.
