Honoring Alyson & Josephine Hardin

Tax deductible
In the early hours of Friday, July 4th, 2025, the Texas Hill Country was struck with devastating storms and disastrous flooding. Countless families were affected by this tragedy along the Guadalupe River. Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls located in Hunt, was significantly impacted. This tragedy has also personally impacted members of the Theta Pi Sorority and those within the Sewanee community who mourn the loss of our dear alumnae and friends Alyson Hardin ’82 and her daughter Josephine Hardin ’19.

Both Josephine and Alyson were proud members of Theta Pi Sorority. Alyson was a founding member from the class of 1982 and Josephine was a member of the class of 2019, when Josephine lived in Theta Pi house and served as the sorority’s treasurer. In addition to their roles at Theta Pi, Alyson and Josephine both attended and served as counselors at Camp Mystic down the road from their beloved river house in Hunt.

We recognize the strong ties between the Sewanee and Texas communities and know that we can come together to support each other during this difficult time. We have found comfort in sharing memories, photos and prayers over the past week.

While the flooding and storms have receded, there is a long road ahead as the community continues relief efforts. We have created this GoFundMe to offer direct support and relief for the Hill Country through St. Peter's Episcopal Church, located in Kerrville. From their website: "The floods of July 4th, 2025 had a devastating impact on the Kerrville community. Families across our area will be in need of ongoing spiritual, emotional, and material support for months and years to come. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kerrville is deeply committed to the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts of Kerr County." We were connected with this organization through the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. We do this in honor of our friends Alyson Hardin and her daughter, Josephine Hardin.

Alyson was an active member in her own home parish of All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale where she served as senior warden. This gives us a way to honor both Josephine and Alyson through the church and a trusted platform and organization.

Our goal is to raise as much money as possible to directly impact relief efforts as of now, but we will be in touch about immediate ways we can continue to support Bill and the Crouch and Hardin families at a later point.

Thank you for your donation to support the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in memory of Josephine and Alyson Hardin.

Please continue to pray for their family, friends and community deeply impacted by this great loss.
