Hi, my name is Melissa, but a lot of people call me Sriracha. I suffered from mild asthma for years. For the better part of 2 years, I struggled with fatigue and wheezing, doing less and less.
Last March of 2025, I suffered respiratory failure and almost died. I have severe eosinophilic asthma. I was put on a new biologic called Dupixent, which has been life-changing. I take it every 2 weeks. I'm disabled, and my current Medicare plan covered the medicine.
I have recently had to change to a new plan that has an out-of-pocket deductible of $2,100. The shot is going to run $1,265 until I reach this deductible that I cannot afford. Medicare offered to break the deductible into 12 months, but I cannot afford those monthly payments. I have reached out to the manufacturer, who does offer assistance but only if you sign up for the monthly deductible payments.
I am going to have to stop taking the shots and I am afraid. I am hoping to raise the cost of the deductible so I can continue my medication. Never take your breathing for granted! Thank you for reading and God bless you.
