Hi everyone, we’re Keshan and Devmini.

We both grew up in Sri Lanka and spent most of our childhoods there before moving to the U.S. for college. No matter where we live now, Sri Lanka is still our home. Watching the floods devastate communities across the island has been heartbreaking. Seeing families lose loved ones, homes, and the basic necessities needed to survive has left us feeling helpless, especially being so far away.

We wish we could be there in person to volunteer, to comfort people, to help rebuild. Since we can’t, we wanted to do the next best thing: create Homebound, a small effort from the two of us to support Sri Lankans who are suffering right now.

Our goal is simple: bring together friends, family, and kind strangers abroad who want to help, and make sure that support reaches the communities that need it most.

How we will distribute the donations:

We are collecting funds here in the US and abroad, and then working directly with trusted friends and relatives on the ground in Sri Lanka who are already involved in local relief efforts. They will purchase essential items dry rations, cooked meals, drinking water, sanitary products, basic healthcare supplies, and whatever else communities urgently need.

Every purchase they make will come with receipts, photos, videos, and updates documenting exactly where the money goes. They will also personally hand-deliver these supplies to families affected by the floods, prioritizing areas that are struggling the most.

To stay accountable and completely transparent, we’re launching an Instagram "homebound.sl", where we will share all updates, proof of donations, and the faces and stories of the people your contribution is helping.

No amount is too small. Even a single dollar can go a long way in Sri Lanka right now.
