Hello! This is Spyro’s Mom, Lauren. Spy is a 1-year-old Red Labrador. He came into our lives unexpectedly, when my in-laws adopted his two brothers, and three months later my MIL noticed that he still hadn’t found a home. Spy came home at 5 months old weighing 10 lbs., and was diagnosed with Giardia and a tapeworm. We put him on a good food and took him to the vet and got him back to health.
Spy was very skittish from the first day he got home, and was afraid of the outdoors, new people, and dogs. We’ve worked with him in the past year and a half, and he has come so far! Spy has now been to three states, camping up north, and swimming. He’s been able to grow up with two of his littermates whenever we visit Grandma and Grandpa, and he is very attached to his Pomeranian sister at home.
We noticed one day that Spy was limping and took him to the vet. He had x-rays done that showed inflammation in his knee, and his orthopedic doctor informed us that he needs a TPLO surgery (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy). The surgery will cost about $3-3,500.
Matt and I are saving as much as we can to get Spy his surgery soon, but we would wholeheartedly appreciate any help! We named Spyro after a little mighty dragon, because runt or not, he has the biggest heart, and does not let anything stop him from living his best Labrador life ❤️❤️
