I recently adopted a sweet little cat named Spice, and what I thought was a happy new beginning has turned into something much bigger.

After bringing him home, I noticed he was walking strangely and seemed to be in pain, especially after playing. I took him to the vet, and the news was heartbreaking. Spice has two old fractures (one in each leg) and both of his knees are dislocated. His kneecaps are not where they should be, which is causing him ongoing pain and instability.

We were told by his previous owner that Spice likely suffered these injuries after falling from a three-story building when he was just a few weeks old. While I can’t verify exactly what happened, it helps explain the severity of the damage to both of his legs.

Despite everything he’s been through, Spice is incredibly loving, affectionate, and full of life. He wants to run, play, and be a normal cat—but his body is holding him back.

The vet has told us that he will need surgery on both knees to give him the chance to live a normal, pain-free life. Unfortunately, the rescue I adopted him from is not able to cover the cost of this surgery, which is understandable.

I am committed to helping him and giving him the life he deserves, but the cost of two orthopedic surgeries, medications, and follow-up care is more than I can manage on my own. It is $3,800 per leg, totaling $7,600.
