Support Spencer's Spinal Recovery Journey

On the evening of March 20th, Spencer was out swimming with friends. He shares that as he dove in, he heard his head hit the bottom of the pool with a thud and immediately realized something was wrong as he couldn't feel his legs. As he opened his eyes underwater, he saw blood and knew he needed to float to the surface, so he held his breath. Friends helped him out of the pool, and rescue was called. After reaching the hospital, it was quickly determined that Spencer would need more specialized care, so he would need to be airlifted to another facility. After numerous tests and scans, it was found that both the C7 and C8 vertebrae were crushed. During the next week, he had gone through two surgeries. The first, to remove any of the vertebrae fragments that were no longer attached, as well as put a cage around the spinal column from the front to stabilize it. The second, to install a titanium plate to the back of his spinal column to further support it.

Since then, Spencer has been transferred out of the ICU and into a more long-term facility as he continues to heal and work hard on regaining function of his lower body. So far, he is able to feel a bit of sensation from his waist down, but as of this point, we do not know what the total outcome will look like.

As you know, bills don't stop, and we just don't know how much of his medical costs his insurance will cover. With his life literally being turned upside down, finances are something that he should not have to worry about at this moment. We are really just looking for any help to alleviate any of his financial burdens so he can focus completely on healing.
