I'm Spencer, on September 8th me and my girl were involved in a devastating car crash that was near fatal, a drunk driver going 60-70 miles an hour ran a light directly impacting my drivers side, my girlfriend was left with injuries like bruising and a concussion, but since I took the impact these were the list of injuries for me. (Mind you, someone ran a stop sign and totaled my other car not even a year ago so there’s that)

Broken femur (thigh bone) — surgically repaired with rods and screws.

• Broken tibia (shin bone) — repaired with hardware; I cannot walk yet.

• Fractured neck (cervical spine injury) — I wear a cervical collar constantly.

• Fractured skull base — carefully monitored by specialists.

• traumatic brain injuries from impact - affecting memory and speech

• Collapsed lung — made breathing almost impossible.

• Multiple broken ribs — each breath, cough, or laugh is painful.

• Severe internal bleeding — required multiple transfusions.

• Bleeding around my heart (hemopericardium) — blood pooled dangerously close to my heart.

• Lacerated bladder — repaired surgically, left me dependent on a catheter.

• Tongue injury — painful swelling, made eating and speaking extremely hard.

• Knocked-out teeth — I struck the steering wheel when airbags failed to deploy, leaving me in need of mouth surgery and dental implants. Eating is extremely painful right now.

• Severe bruising and nerve pain throughout my body.

• Organs shifted into my chest/diaphragm — the force of the impact pushed my internal organs upward into my chest cavity, requiring surgery to repair and reposition them.

And the interventions that kept me alive:

• Breathing tube (intubation) — kept me alive but its removal was excruciating.

• Feeding tube — the only way I could be nourished at first.

• Urinary catheter — necessary while my bladder healed.

I am now in the hospital recovering from all this, I was transported from the ICU days ago, I’ve got my breathing and feeding tubes removed aswell as the catheter. I’m making progress on a lot of things now , September 18th being the first day in a wheelchair! My pain is getting better day by day and so is my physical movement .

All of this is was a lot for me, I’m just thankful to be alive, mentally okay, and not physically handicapped. I could’ve easily be turned handicapped/paralyzed, or mentally disabled, or not alive. But by gods grace and my strong spirit I’m still alive and breathing, because of that blessing I wanted to make this GoFundMe in hopes of getting some funds to help me rebuild myself and my life aswell as my girlfriends, this was truly a eye opener for me and this has inspired me to take action onto my goals and dreams 10x stronger and harder, if you can support me with something as little as 5$ it’s going along way , your money isn’t going to waste it’s going to a cause, a cause that will shape the world.
