Support Spencer's Journey to Walk Again
Donation protected
On Thursday, September 5th, Spencer started experiencing intense pain in his back but pushed through the remainder of his overnight shift. As the weekend progressed, so did Spencer's pain, so much so that it began to impact his breathing. By Monday morning, Spencer started to lose feeling in his legs on his way into the emergency room. Unfortunately, the MRI machine was down and Spencer was transported by ambulance to a better equipped hospital.
Spencer had a series of tests run, including a spinal tap. The spinal tap immediately showed signs of infection and the MRI showed fluid in one of his lungs. The tests concluded that Spencer had an infection growing on his spine. The infection was pressing on his spinal cord causing the loss of feeling in the lower half of his body. By the next morning, Spencer was scheduled for an emergency surgery that required small parts of his spine to be removed for access to clear the infection. The surgery was successful but now comes the hardest part; the rehabilitation to learn how to walk and function normally again.
The recovery and rehab will take many months so Spencer will be out of work for a while. The last thing we want is for Spencer to worry about bills while recovering. Money is tight for everyone right now so if all you can offer is your love and prayers, we appreciate support in all forms!
