Aloha, friends and family,
My name is Soyer Hobbeheydar, and I’m a senior at West Hawaii Explorations Academy. Since 2018, I’ve been a proud member of our school’s surf team—a group that has taught me so much about discipline, teamwork, ocean stewardship, and Hawaiian values.
This June, I’ve been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join my coach, Mr. Swenson, and 7 of my teammates on a surf and cultural exchange trip to El Salvador (June 2–10). This adventure is more than just catching waves—it’s our “last hurrah” together as seniors and a meaningful learning experience.
We’ll be staying at Las Flores Surf Club, connecting with local youth, and leading a community presentation about life in Hawaii, ocean etiquette, and water safety. This trip represents everything I love about surfing: community, culture, and respect for the ocean.
We’ve worked hard to fundraise and have already brought our costs down from $3,200 to $800 per student. I’m reaching out to ask for help covering the final leg of the journey—airfare, lodging, and basic travel costs.
If you can give, mahalo nui loa! If not, please share this with others who believe in supporting youth, education, and the power of cultural connection.
With gratitude,
Soyer Hobbeheydar
