Based at Vestal High School in New York, Southern Tier Robotics (Team 2053) stands as Broome County's sole FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, representing a crucial hub for technology education in our region. Our team of 15 dedicated students, guided by 7 industry mentors, builds more than just robots – we build futures.
Recent Performance and Awards:
At the 2026 Hudson Valley Regional, we competed against 48 teams and finished 3rd in the qualification rounds with a record of 9 wins and only 1 loss, which earned us a spot in the playoff tournament. From there, we worked with two other teams from Potham, NY and Taipei and made a strong run all the way to the finals. We ended up finishing as finalists (2nd place overall), which was an exciting result, especially for our first event of the season.
Additionally, we also won the Quality Award which recognized us for our machine's robustness in concept and fabrication. It’s a nice reflection of the time and effort students have put in over the past few months. Photos of both awards (Finalist and Quality Award) are attached.
What Sets Us Apart:
As the only FRC team in Broome County, we serve as a vital gateway to STEAM education for our community's youth. Our students don't just learn about technology; they design, build, and program industrial-sized robots that compete in complex engineering challenges. This hands-on experience transforms theoretical knowledge into practical skills, preparing them for real-world careers in technology and engineering.
Your Impact:
When you support Team 2053, you're not just funding a robotics team – you're investing in:
