Update (4/16/2026): Helping Our Neighbors Reach the Finish Line
As we look toward summer, we are asking for your help to ensure our community members stay housed during this final stretch of the academic year. While many families are eager to return to seasonal work in landscaping, construction, and roofing, the current gap in income remains a significant hurdle.
Many of our neighbors are navigating reduced hours at local businesses or the profound challenge of restructuring their households following the detention or deportation of a family member. Your support provides the stability they need to keep their homes while they work toward a more secure summer.

As a South High student, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the support I received during the Metro Surge period. It is something I will never forget. When I couldn’t attend in-person classes, my teachers and the OLA Club Latino ensured I didn’t fall behind.
Beyond school, this community provided food, transportation, and helped my family cover essential costs like rent, electricity, and water. Thanks to your generosity and solidarity, I was able to move forward with peace and hope.

I am so grateful for the help with our rent. Since my husband was deported back to Ecuador, I am the sole provider for my daughters. It is incredibly hard to leave my 11-month-old crying at 4 in the morning when I go to work, but I must work to pay the debts we took on to get here.
The 'American Dream' has sadly meant painful separation for us, but the support from the South High community reminds me I am not alone. You are the angels on my path. May God bless every person who has supported me from the very first moment this hardship began for my family.

I want to thank for all the support. It meant so much to us. We went through very difficult moments, locked in our room, just looking out the window. There were days when we didn’t even eat, without work, and the rent was already due.

South High School (Minneapolis, MN) parents are holding a special fundraiser specifically for South families in need of ongoing food and resources. Many South families are currently struggling to afford and access groceries and other necessities.
South High School is more than a school. It is a hub of creativity and activism and South Tigers are known for their passion and their voices. However, for more than 70% of our students and families, the hidden hurdles they face outside the classroom can make it difficult to focus on education as they strive for surviving day-to-day.
Our strength has always been our community. Every contribution, no matter the size, ensures our community school, students, and their families are supported, seen, and heard. So students can walk through the door ready to learn, create, and lead with Tiger Pride. Thank you for your incredible generosity.
