Support SOS Dog Rescue: Build a Safe Yard and Save More Dogs

My name is Michelle Christensen, and I am the founder and director of Saving Outstanding Souls dog rescue. Our mission is to save dogs from euthanasia due to space. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home and should not die in a shelter. Our country is in a crisis with the number of dogs and cats being placed in shelters. We do our best to save as many as we can, but the sad truth is we can't save them all. Thousands die daily, and it is a harsh reality many people do not know about or want to because of the emotional impact it has. Seeing puppies, nursing moms and their babies, and loving, happy dogs smiling and playing with stuffies available one day, and the next their post is shared with a rainbow and RIP. Many of these dogs are killed on a cold, damp shelter floor by the use of a heart stick, not humane euthanasia. It takes a very hard mental and emotional toll on those of us who work in rescue.

Rescues cannot survive without the help of others. Saving Outstanding Souls (SOS) is throwing out an SOS now. We have hit a wall. We have had many foster/adopters back out on commitments to help, and we do not have exposure for donations or placing dogs. We are drowning in debt and dogs.

To date, in less than a year, we have saved over 100 dogs from dying. We have had twenty-two adoptions and continue to work day and night to find forever homes for the dogs in our care. However, we cannot save anymore. We cannot afford to save anymore and due to lack of fencing, the ones we have saved do not have a fun yard to run around and play in.

We are humbly asking for help. We need to raise money for at least one fence. We house 44 dogs on two properties. Our long-term goal is an actual building with indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs to live in comfort until they find their forever homes, but that is way out of budget, so for now, we need a fence so dogs can play.
