Support Sophie's Urgent Cancer Surgery

Donation protected
My sweet Sophie has been battling cancer for the past few years, and it has unfortunately returned. This began in 2018/2019 when we found a mass on her back and hip- it was removed by her primary care vet and all was fine until we found another mass on her chest a year later. It was found to be homogeneous carcinoma and I began taking her to a specialist in Long Island, where she underwent an invasive surgery removing the mass and all breast tissue on that side of her body, and then she started receiving biweekly intravenous chemotherapy. We finished with what I hoped to be her last chemo session in May of this year at Medvet here in Chicago after moving back home, and I was hoping she had beat it, but it breaks my heart to say that it has returned. What started as a pea sized growth on her chest has grown quickly to over an inch in size and is causing her discomfort and strain.

I took her to Medvet on 10/11 to get it biopsied and it came back as cancerous. She had another visit on 10/29/24 to have chest x-rays and an ultrasound to get a better view of its spread and luckily it seems to be contained, but the oncologist found another small mass to be growing next to it, dangerously close to her lymph. She has an upcoming visit to consult with the surgeon there ahead of getting surgery to remove it. We are hoping that getting this removed will stop it in its tracks and prevent further spread while improving her quality of life and giving her relief.

Sophie is my best friend in this world- I've had the joy of raising her from a kitten since I was 19, and we just got to celebrate her 15th birthday in September. She has been with me through everything and has been my constant source of happiness and comfort- anyone who has been lucky enough to meet her knows how special and sweet and gentle she is. She is my angel and although I hate asking for help, I can't imagine not trying everything I possibly can to help her as much as possible while she's going through this.

Cancer sucks and money does too- I am still paying off the Care credit loan I took out for her last surgery so I am currently looking into other forms of help I can apply for. Aside from that debt, as of now I have an outstanding balance of $1000 for her imaging on 10/29, then upcoming fees of $206 for the consultation with the surgery department and an estimated $5,000 to $6,000 for the surgery itself. I know money is tight for everyone right now but anything you can donate to help Sophie out would be immensely appreciated.
