Hi, my name is Sophie. I’m a 37-year-old from the UK with a heart for serving others and a deep desire to make a lasting difference-not just in moments of crisis, but in the long-term wellbeing of individuals and communities.

What do I mean by lasting difference?

I want to be the person who shows up when life feels unmanageable. The one who helps someone find a safe home, connects a struggling teen to support services, walks alongside someone rebuilding after family breakdown, or supports a person living with mental illness toward stability and self-worth.

This isn’t just about giving people temporary help. It’s about empowering people to reclaim their lives and live with dignity and hope.

Why I’m Asking for Help

I’m currently living in Australia and preparing to apply for a Diploma of Community Services. This course will give me the qualifications and practical training I need to move into full-time work supporting others in need; especially in areas like youth support, homelessness, disability services, and mental health care.

But I can’t do it alone.

As an international student, I’ll be required to pay tuition and related costs upfront. I’m not eligible for government help due to my age and visa status.

I currently work full-time hours across two jobs:

• During the day, I work in a special education school, supporting children with diverse needs-helping them learn, stay regulated, and build confidence in daily tasks.

• In the evenings and on weekends, I’m a disability support worker, helping adults with intellectual and physical disabilities through everyday activities, from cooking and shopping to attending appointments or just being someone to talk to.

Despite these efforts, I still need help reaching my goal. I’ve saved about one-third of the amount required so far.

This will go directly toward:

• Tuition fees (approx. $6,000–$7,000 per year)

• Learning materials and basic supplies

• Transport and costs associated with work placements

What I’ll Be Doing With Your Support

✅ Apply for a student visa that keeps me in Australia legally and actively contributing

I’ve always felt called to help people in times of crisis. I’ve been the friend who stays when it gets messy. I’ve worked with kids who struggle to communicate, and adults who feel invisible in the world.

This diploma will give me the skills, structure, and legal pathway to turn that calling into a career. Community Services will allow me to work in areas like:

• Mental health and wellbeing

• Homelessness and housing

• Youth and family support

• Disability services

• Community development

My Christian faith teaches me to love people deeply, serve humbly, and act justly. This career allows me to live those values every day.
