GoFundMe Story
My name is Sophie, and over the past year and a half, my life has changed in ways I never expected.
After developing severe neurological symptoms, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) with non-epileptic seizures, along with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Since December 2024, I have experienced more than 500 seizure episodes, along with tremors, weakness, severe fatigue, difficulty walking, and challenges with memory and cognition.
Because of this, I have now been unable to work for over a year. What I first hoped would be a short season of recovery has become a much longer and harder road than I expected.
For years, I lived with symptoms that never fully made sense. In 2004, I was tested for multiple conditions, including MS, but everything came back negative, even though symptoms like vertigo continued.
After having COVID in November 2022, my health began to decline in new ways. My body felt weak, stiff, and increasingly unpredictable. Then on December 13, 2024, while working, I had my first non-epileptic seizure. Since then, life has changed completely.
After many emergency visits, tests, and appointments with specialists, I was finally diagnosed with FND, along with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. FND is a disorder of nervous system functioning. It can cause very real neurological symptoms even when scans do not show structural damage. My treatment now focuses on retraining my brain and nervous system through therapy, rest, and gradual healing.
Right now, this fundraiser is helping me hold on to the most essential things while I work toward stability and healing. Donations are helping with:
- Keeping my home and preventing housing loss
- Mortgage, utilities, and essential bills
- Food and daily living expenses
- Out-of-pocket medical and therapy costs
- Tools and resources that support daily functioning
I have applied for SSDI and continue to do everything I can to create more stability. My hope is to eventually reduce expenses and rebuild, but right now my priority is preserving a safe home, meeting basic needs, and continuing the care I need.
My goal is not just to survive this chapter, but to heal enough to rebuild my life over time. I am doing everything I can each day to move forward one small step at a time.
If you feel moved to help, whether by donating, sharing, or keeping me in your thoughts and prayers, please know how deeply grateful I am.
Thank you for being part of my support circle during one of the hardest seasons of my life.
With love and gratitude, Sophie
