I am doing this fundraiser for my stepdaughter, Sophie. I have asked her to write an introduction to this and so what you read below is her in her words. I am so proud of her hard work and energy that she has put into all her schooling, her part-time work as a gymnastics coach, and her volunteering. She just completed her CNA training as a high-school junior and is looking forward to a career as a nurse. She will go far. I trust that you will giver her every consideration.
Hey! My name is Sophie Butler. I’m a current high school junior aspiring to go into the healthcare field. I’m asking for your help.
In school I was privileged be part of an Internship with Leadership Initiatives. I worked alongside some school mates of mine. We worked with rural communities in Nigeria helping to improve their living conditions, education and healthcare. Our big project was on women’s health and how we could help improve the overall health of young women in these communities. This program has been so fulfilling and we also won the global fundraising award right at the start of the Internship.
This summer I have the opportunity to continue the internship with Leadership Initiatives at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. It’s a week long, intensive program.
Over the week, we will be connecting up with amazing high school students across the U.S. We will also be working alongside medical professionals to review cases in the small communities in Nigeria, and help diagnose patients after meeting with with them through zoom.
The total cost for the internship is $3500. I’m saving up my work money to pay for part of that. I’m hoping to raise $2,000 to help cover the remaining costs. I know that's a lot of money. I hope many of you will find a way to help me; every small amount will help me reach this goal.
Thank you for considering!
