Hey everyone! My name is Sophia and this year I started at Mercy Academy. So far, I have enjoyed getting to experience so many new things, one of my personal favorites is technical theater. Not only has technical theater been an elective I chose, but I also was able to help with the technical side of our first play of the year, Dracula, the Bloody Truth. For this play, what I did was run crew, which was helping to move props/sets on stage and I was in charge of opening and closing the curtain at the end of the play. With Mercy, I have been given an opportunity to expand my experience in technical theater.

This summer, Mercy theater has been chosen to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. This festival spans three weeks in August and during that time, we have an opportunity to perform at this festival. This includes both our actresses and our tech crew, in which I have been given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to go. Not only do we get to perform at the festival, we will also be participating in site seeing in London and around Edinburgh.

I am fundraising for a couple of reasons, one being that I am too young to have a full time job, due to my focus on school and my studies. Also because I would like to help my mom not have to pay for this entire trip on her own. I want to thank you for your time to consider helping me to be able to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Mercy Academy performing arts group.
