How much compassion can one person hold?
Meet Sophia.
By day, she works tirelessly as a farmer. To support her family, she had to take on a grueling second job working at a hotel here in Gouves, Crete. You would think someone working two jobs would have no energy or money left to spare—but Sophia is different.
Every single month, Sophia takes €150 out of her hard-earned hotel paycheck to feed and sterilize the local stray cats. While tourists enjoy their holidays, Sophia is quietly working behind the scenes, using her own limited income to prevent the cycle of homelessness and suffering for these animals.
Because of hotel policies, Sophia isn't allowed to set up a physical donation box for guests who notice her efforts and want to help. That’s why we are stepping in to build this digital safety net for her.
Where will your money go?
Sterilization: The only effective way to stop more kittens from being born into a life on the streets.
Food & Water: Ensuring the current colony stays fed and healthy.
Medical Care: Buying treatments for eye infections, parasites, and injuries.
Sophia is already giving everything she has to support her family and these cats. Let’s show her that she doesn't have to carry this heavy financial weight all by herself.
Even a tiny donation—the cost of a coffee—goes a very long way in Greece.
Thank you so much for backing this incredible woman and the beautiful cats of Gouves!
I am currently on vacation in Crete, where I met Sophia and saw her incredible dedication firsthand. Because GoFundMe does not directly support Greek bank accounts for withdrawals, I have set up this campaign under my own account in Luxembourg. I will personally withdraw 100% of the funds raised here and transfer them directly to Sophia so she can immediately use them for cat food, medical supplies, and sterilization costs. I am happy to post updates and receipts here as the funds are transferred!
