It’s with great sadness that Ms. Sophia Marie Cruz passed from this life Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Hitchcock.

Born July 23, 2008, in Galveston, TX, Ms. Cruz was a Hitchcock resident for most of her life, previously of Alvin and Rosharon.

A proud Lady Indian and devoted athlete, she shined on the varsity basketball team, where her talent, determination, and love for the game made her a beloved teammate and a fierce competitor. Basketball wasn't just a sport to her—it was a way of life. Outside the gym, she found joy in the simple beauty of nature. She loved camping and especially cherished early mornings watching the sun rise over Galveston Beach, where she found calm and reflection in the waves and the sky.

We want to give the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our goodbyes.
