Support Sony's Battle Against Breast Cancer

Hi everyone, my name is Laurie (Trione) Lucas. I’ve created this GoFundMe for my dear friend & coworker Fesony Broughton.

Fesony also known as Sony, was recently diagnosed in February with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She has been undergoing aggressive treatment for the last two months which her body is not responding to. At this moment, her incredible doctors are formulating a new game plan for a new approach.

Sony, a devoted mother to two amazing little boys Hayden & Holden, a loving wife to Haldeman, a sister, aunt, cousin, friend, coworker and everything in between has spent her life to helping others, raising her beautiful children and providing comfort to those who need it most.

Sony has been a Radiologic Technologist at Zwanger Pesiri for many, many years. Primarily working in Mammography. She’s been a helping hand to an infinite amount of patients during their most vulnerable and difficult times. Sony followed in her sister, Mervis’, footsteps and began her career in radiology. Mervis was an incredibly well known, kind hearted, phenomenal person. She too worked in Radiology at Zwanger Pesiri for many years but as a Sonographer. Devastatingly, Mervis had passed from her own battle with cancer years ago. Despite her and her families tremendous loss, Sony has continued to persevere. Without a doubt she has continued her sisters legacy in providing patients with nothing less than kindness, quality care and comfort. Sony juggling being a mother, wife, full time employee and the backbone to her family has never once complained about the many hats she wears or the highs and lows of life and the world around. She only emits positivity and sees the good in all situations. Even now, with all she’s going through.

Now, she needs our help. Sony has depleted any paid time off she’s acquired. In addition, she has exhausted her short term disability. Medical bills and other expenses are overwhelmingly piling up. Anything to help lessen the stress for Sony and her family will be so very much appreciated. Right now Sony needs to focus on staying strong and focused on fighting this.

Lastly, to truly know Sony, is to love Sony. She is such a special person and without any hesitation she would do absolutely anything for the people she cares about. Now it is our time to do the same for her.

I can’t thank you enough for helping contribute to this GoFundMe. This means more to me than anyone can understand. As a fellow Mammographer who’s worked along side Sony for years, Sonys diagnosis resonates with me so much. I know our coworkers would say the same. Day in and day out were behind the machines, performing routine exams and acquiring high quality images as well as quality care for Breast Cancer screenings. Though we’ve been there for so many patients who have had the unfortunate gut wrenching diagnosis of Breast Cancer, you don’t ever anticipate the possibility of someone you’re so close to or even yourself receiving that same diagnosis. We always stress to our patients how imperative early detection is. But, now to see one of our own on the other end fighting this battle gives us a whole different perspective.
