My name is Sonya, and I am a fighter.

As a single mother of two, my world revolves around providing a future for my children. However, the last few years have tested my strength in ways I never imagined. I am a uterine cancer survivor and a heart attack survivor, and I live daily with the challenges of Type 1 diabetes. Most recently, I have had to navigate the world in a new way after becoming blind in one eye.

These health battles have not just taken a toll on my body; they have led to deep struggles with anxiety and depression as I’ve fought to keep my head above water. But I am not giving up. My goal is to get back on my feet, return to school, and gain the skills I need to re-enter the workforce and provide for my family.

Why I’m Raising Funds:

The road to self-sufficiency is currently blocked by medical debt and the costs of education. I am seeking your support to help cover:

Medical Expenses: Ongoing care for my heart health, diabetes management, and vision-related treatments.

Education Costs: Tuition and supplies so I can complete my schooling and secure a stable job.

Essential Living Expenses: Ensuring my children have a stable home while I transition back into the workforce.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward medical stability and the education that will allow me to work again. I have survived cancer and a heart attack because I have a purpose—to be there for my kids and to show them that no matter how many times life knocks you down, you get back up.
