If you’ve ever met my sister Sonja, you know she is the kind of person who shows up for everyone—whether it’s a late-night call, a helping hand, or a warm smile when you need it most. It’s not easy to ask for help, but for someone like Sonja, it means everything.

In 2024, Sonja was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. With incredible strength and faith, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor, and began chemotherapy treatments after testing revealed a genetic cancer growth cell. She faced it all with the same love, positivity, and resilience that so many of us know her for.

After completing her first round of chemotherapy in early 2025, Sonja was blessed with nearly two months of remission. But soon after, a PET scan revealed that the cancer had returned to her abdominal wall—this time more aggressive, progressing to stage 4.

Determined to keep fighting, Sonja underwent another intense, three-month round of chemotherapy by the end of 2025. In January 2026, she had surgery once again to remove the tumors, holding onto hope for remission. However, due to complications, her healing process has been longer and more difficult than expected.

Today, as cancer levels have begun to rise again, Sonja continues to face this battle with unwavering faith and courage. She has now begun a third round of chemotherapy treatments, showing us all what true strength looks like.

As Sonja continues this journey, the emotional, physical, and financial burdens have become overwhelming. Between ongoing treatments, surgeries, recovery time, and time away from work, the costs continue to grow.
