In April 2026, our amazing Mum, Sonja Wallis, was diagnosed with Stage 3, aggressive, invasive lobular breast cancer. She began an intensive course of chemotherapy immediately, starting a long and challenging road towards recovery.
Since April, Mum has:
- Begun her 16 rounds of intense chemotherapy; she will then undergo a double mastectomy.
- Once recovered from the surgery, she will have radiation treatment for a month, as well as specialised physio and exercise therapy.
- She will then look at reconstructive surgery in 2027.
Despite the physical and emotional toll, Mum has met every challenge with the incredible strength, determination and positivity we all know and love her for.
The road ahead is long, but she’s surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends who have already shown up for her in her time of need. Every check-in, message, home-cooked meal and thoughtful gesture has meant more than words can express.
While Mum and Dad have private health insurance, many aspects of the treatments, doctor and specialist appointments, surgery costs and necessary medical equipment come with significant out-of-pocket expenses.
As a result, this is adding financial strain to an already incredibly stressful time. Through it all, Mum has continued to work as much as she can with hospital visits, appointments and weekly chemotherapy. She is determined to keep life moving forward despite everything she's facing and to ease the financial strain that comes with a disease such as cancer.
Jasmine and I have created this page because so many people have asked how they can help. If you're in a position to contribute, your generosity will help ease the financial strain of Mum's treatment and allow her to focus on healing.
If you've ever enjoyed one of Mum's incredible home-cooked Italian feasts, debriefed at our dining table over a bottle of wine, or been welcomed into our home like one of the family, you'll know just how generous she is with her time, love and care.
Now, we graciously ask you to support her on the long journey that is cancer treatment. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping ease the financial strain of medical care, treatments, recovery, and everyday living expenses during this hard time.
We also appreciate that times are tough at the moment, so we deeply appreciate anything you can spare to help Mum recover. If you're unable to donate, simply sharing this page or keeping Mum in your thoughts means the world to us.
Thank you,
Jasmine and India xo
