As many of you know, my sister, Abbey, was diagnosed this week with a brain tumor and will be undergoing surgery in the coming weeks, followed by a prolonged and uncertain recovery.

While she is facing this news with courage and grit (as she does everything), the reality is that her ability to work and earn income will be significantly impacted during this time. And while Abbey is a force — she is also a woman and a mother, who deserves care, rest, and support during this challenging time.

Abbey makes her living through performance and as a gourmet mushroom grower. Sharing her voice on stages locally and internationally, including on the Classic Albums Rumours tour where she is often described as Stevie Nicks reincarnate, and through her work as a mushroom vendor in Cape Breton and Nova Scotia, deeply connected to the land and communities she serves. Both of these roles are physically demanding livelihoods, and they simply aren’t possible to carry-on while she recovers.

The purpose of this fundraiser is to give Abbey the space to heal without worrying about finances or how to keep everything afloat while her body does the hard work of recovery.
