My name is Tina Serna, I'm from Caldwell ID and I started this GoFundMe page for my 33 year old daughter Sommer Rose.
Sommer has, for her entire life been the kindest most generous person I have ever known. She was the little girl who would bring toys out of her room when we had guests and give them away as gifts. As quiet and sweet as she is, she is also the first to stand up to defend if she sees wrong doing. She's our precious girl.
About three years ago her ankles began to hurt so bad that she couldn't walk. The doctor's advice was to fuse them. She was 30 and was diagnosed with arthritis and degenerating ankle and foot bones. She kept working. She needed the income and insurance. Shortly after she was diagnosed with Diabetes 2, she kept working.
Her legs began to swell, and about October 2025 she was given more meds. The meds worked but oddly weight started coming off. About this time her hips and tailbone began causing her nightmarish pain. She couldn't get in or out of bed without help. She stood most of the time because she couldn't get back up. Her personality changed due to constant pain. Her employer gave her a hard time because she was slow. But she showed up, every day. Worked full shifts, worked by herself because sometimes being a grown up sucks! The doctor gave her more meds, to "boost" her main diabetic medicine, but never told us it would push more weight loss. Around December 2025 we realized weight was literally pouring off. She's lost 80 lbs since then. She developed Raynaud's in her hands, then they turned hard, pink and cold. The skin around her eyes has hardened as well as her shoulders. She throws up every day. Her teeth are looking bad. She's had many tests, blood workups, X-rays, procedures. No....answers. Her dad and I are terrified. She's our baby and we can't fix it or give her a bandaid and a sticker like we did when she was a baby. I stand in her doorway so many times at nite to be sure she's breathing.
All we know is that she has multiple autoimmune diseases, diabetes, severe anemia and that she's bleeding internally somewhere.
She lost her job, and her insurance ends when April is over. We are trying to get her Medicaid but they question her living at home even tho she is not a dependent. As soon as we find out what she has we will shoot for disability.
This is the reason for this GoFundMe. She has zero income and I'm trying my best to get her covered. We are looking to try to find ways to cover her expenses at lease until Medicaid and disability kick in. Prayerfully both.
I do apologize for the drawn out story. She and I spend more time in the car than anything.
I'm so thankful the Lord put this in my husbands head. I thank all of you so much for reading, and for your prayers
