Those of you that are familiar with the Somers family, know that my dad is the man who hung the moon & stars for me. He is my hero!

Not too long ago my grandpa Somers passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. I hate to speak the words, but earlier this month my father was also diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

My father was in the process of expanding his experience within the Construction field, but the very next day was when this possible diagnosis was given. Two surgeries to stop internal bleeding later, we have a pending Whipple procedure and only Cobra health insurance for six months. On 10/07/2024, his pathology came back positive for Pancreatic Cancer.

As a Social Worker, you already know I'm working on getting whatever services I can in place for my father but those take time. Time that my father doesn't have. Currently, he's unable to move forward with the Whipple procedure due to significant inflammation. His surgeon is hopeful within 3 weeks, that swelling will go down and they can operate. This surgery is not an easy one by any means, but the fact it's an option for him keeps us optimistic!

Those of you who are blessed to know my dad inside & out know his stubborn pride! For him to approve of this fundraiser should speak volumes to the level of concern we all have for him right now.
